Asagi & Shusui
Asagi (ah-SAH-gee) and Shusui (SHOO-swee) are often grouped due to their shared blue coloration and net-like scale patterns. Asagi are fully scaled, while Shusui are doitsu (scaleless) with linear scales along the back.
Asagi feature blue-gray reticulated scales with red accents on the fins and belly. Shusui maintains the same color palette but replaces the netting with a clean dorsal line of scales and usually cleaner, more vibrant hi.

What to Look For
A crisp reticulation pattern is key for Asagi—scales should look like a fine mesh. Red accents should be vibrant and symmetrical. Shusui should have an unbroken dorsal scale row with clean, sky-blue flanks and balanced hi.
