Koromo
Koromo (KOH-roh-moh), meaning “robed,” blends Kohaku or Sanke patterns with reticulated (net-like) shading over the red (hi). This gives the impression of a silk robe laid over the koi.
The top three Koromo types include Ai Goromo (blue reticulation over red), Budo Goromo (grape-colored shading), and Sumi Goromo (black reticulation). Koromo koi are subtle and elegant, highly prized for their unique balance of structure and softness.

What to Look For
Look for a clean Kohaku-like base pattern, with the reticulation overlay appearing uniform and centered within the hi patches. The edges should be soft yet defined, with clear skin and strong body lines. Overdone or uneven shading can distract from the koi’s harmony.
